“What if nobody cares about you? I lift my hand and no one notices. Most of us have been in a room, full of people, but have felt as if we were the only person in the world… Imagine feeling like that on a day-to-day basis.”
In its seventh annual production, the zAmya Theater Project presents
Homeroom, a brand new original work that sends us all back to class in an unusual school where the topic of study is homelessness, students and teachers may burst into song, and everyone will be taking the test—even the audience.
Comprised of scenes written by the cast and directed by zAmya Artistic Director Maren Ward, Homeroom takes place in a fictitious school, but each character and story is the true experience of people experiencing homelessness or working with those who are. Get ready to raise your hand, and your voice, as we call on you to continue the zAmya tradition of community dialogue.
Welcome to class!
"Fun and creative are not the first words that come to mind regarding homelessness, but the zAmya Theater Project has successfully combined the arts with the issue.” -Andrea Richards, TC Daily Planet
