Employment and Family Services, our MFIP/Welfare to Work
program, seeks guest speaker volunteers to talk to
participants in their program. Potential speakers are
invited to discuss personal life experiences, career
exploration, job search techniques, and education
experiences with a group of participants at a monthly
meeting. Share your story to motivate and provide insight to
participants on the realities of seeking further education
and employment.
One-time Group
Opportunities
Cook 'n Serve Shelter
Meal Group
Provide an evening meal, once a month for shelter guests
and volunteers. Plan, purchase, prepare and serve a meal for
50 people - shelter guests, volunteers, and yourselves.
Dinner is served at 7pm, and generally includes an entrée,
side-dish, and vegetable or salad. Most groups prepare the
meal off-site and then arrive between 6:15-6:30pm for
additional prep or to re-heat dishes.
Shelter Clean Up Crew
With 45 guys spending the night at our shelter every
night, it's hard to keep things pristine and neat. Help us
keep our shelter space clean and welcoming! Bring a few
friends, wear some clothes you don't mind getting dirty, and
come on over (let us know you're coming, first!). Bring
between 5 and 10 people for 2-2.5 hours (includes a half
hour to chat about our organization, homelessness, and to
show you around). Kid-friendly, but if the youth are younger
than 9th grade, bring at least 2 adults. Groups are welcome
between 10am and 2pm on weekdays.
